MATILA COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Effective Date: 16th November 2026
Applies to: All Matila users

1. Welcome to Matila

Matila is a space for college students to meet, connect and discover compatibility without revealing their identities straight away.

You might find a new friend, someone you genuinely connect with, or simply learn something about another person. Whatever brings you here, every conversation involves a real person on the other side.

Our principle is simple: anonymity by default, mutual consent for identity reveals, and respect at every stage.

These Community Guidelines explain what is expected of everyone using Matila, what is not allowed, and what happens when someone crosses the line.

By creating an account or using Matila, you agree to follow these Guidelines, along with our Privacy Policy and applicable terms of service.

2. Who Can Use Matila?

Matila is exclusively for current students at colleges approved for participation in the app.

To use Matila, you must:

The following are prohibited:

Matila may request additional verification, suspend an account while eligibility is checked, or permanently ban a user whose ineligibility or deliberate misrepresentation is confirmed.

Access is subject to Matila's age restrictions and applicable law. Users must not misrepresent their age to gain access.

3. Respect Is Non-Negotiable

Different people have different personalities, boundaries and expectations. You do not need to agree with everyone, feel a connection with every match, or continue a conversation you are uncomfortable with.

You do need to treat others with respect.

The following behaviour is prohibited:

Disagreement is not automatically harassment. However, disagreement never gives you permission to threaten, intimidate or abuse another person.

A match is an opportunity to talk, not permission to do anything you want.

Consent must be freely given. It cannot be obtained through threats, pressure, manipulation or fear.

You must not:

No means no. A declined request is not an invitation to keep pushing.

Every user is free to choose whether to reveal, extend or end a conversation, subject to the available options and payment conditions in the app.

5. Flirting Is Fine. Harassment Isn't.

Matila allows consensual flirting and romantic conversations. We recognise that users may have different intentions, including relationships, casual connections and friendship.

However, the following are prohibited:

A user's matching preference or stated intent does not constitute consent to sexual content or sexual activity.

You are responsible for respecting the boundaries communicated by your match, even if the conversation initially appeared flirtatious.

6. Protect Each Other's Privacy

Matila is designed to let students get to know each other before deciding whether to disclose their identities.

Respect that boundary.

You must not pressure another user to disclose private information, including:

You must not impersonate someone, attempt to uncover another user's identity through deceptive means, or use information obtained through Matila to stalk, threaten, embarrass or harm them.

After an identity reveal

When users mutually complete a reveal, Matila may disclose their full names and profile photographs according to the selected feature.

That disclosure is limited to the reveal process. It is not blanket permission to publish, distribute or misuse the other person's information.

You must not share another user's revealed identity, profile photograph, private chat messages or other private match details outside Matila without their permission.

This rule applies to sharing through social media, messaging apps, group chats, public posts or any other external channel.

Matila cannot guarantee that screenshots or copies of messages will not be made. However, taking or distributing private material to harass, expose, intimidate or otherwise violate another user's privacy may result in enforcement action.

7. Understand Mutual Reveal and Safe Reveal

Matila offers different ways for users to decide what happens after a conversation.

Mutual Reveal

Both users must agree to reveal and complete the applicable payment requirements before their full names and profile photographs are disclosed to each other.

Agreeing to chat does not mean agreeing to reveal.

Safe Reveal

Safe Reveal is available to eligible female users under Matila's feature rules. Both users must agree to enter the process.

The female user is shown the male user's full name and profile photograph first. She may then decide whether to disclose her own identity. She can decline without revealing her own identity through this feature.

You must not pressure, threaten or retaliate against someone for declining any part of the reveal process.

Conversation extensions and endings

Both users must follow the applicable decision and payment flow for a paid extension.

If you do not wish to continue a conversation, you may choose to end it using the available in-app option.

Under Matila's current matching rules, ending a conversation means you will not be matched with that person again.

Matila does not currently offer a separate blocking feature. If you experience misconduct, use the reporting feature.

8. Contact Details and Off-App Communication

Users may choose to exchange contact details after a successful identity reveal, provided both users agree.

You must not pressure someone to share their phone number, social media handle or other contact details.

You must not use contact details obtained through Matila to repeatedly contact someone against their wishes, harass them, threaten them or invade their privacy.

Once communication moves outside Matila, Matila may have limited ability to investigate or address conduct occurring on another platform. You should use the reporting process if you experience misconduct connected to a Matila interaction.

9. No Scams, Financial Manipulation or Solicitation

Matila is for meeting people and building connections, not for exploiting users financially.

The following are prohibited:

Matila's in-app coins and paid features must only be used according to the options and conditions presented in the app.

A romantic interest, a match or a potential reveal must never be used as leverage to obtain money or financial information.

10. Be Honest About Who You Are

Trust begins with honesty.

You must not:

Matila may suspend an account while investigating suspected impersonation or eligibility fraud. Confirmed deliberate violations may result in a permanent ban.

11. Reporting and Safety

If someone makes you uncomfortable, violates these Guidelines or behaves in a way that concerns you, you can report them through the reporting feature in Matila.

You do not need to wait for a serious incident before making a report.

When you submit a report:

  1. Provide an accurate description of what happened.
  2. Include relevant information available to you.
  3. Do not fabricate evidence or deliberately misrepresent events.
  4. Avoid confronting or threatening the other user in retaliation.

Matila may review relevant messages, account information, conversation records and report details to investigate a complaint.

Access to this information is for legitimate safety, moderation and legal purposes. The fact that chats are anonymous to other users does not mean that they are inaccessible to Matila when a legitimate investigation requires review.

We aim to handle reports fairly and take appropriate action based on the circumstances, available evidence and seriousness of the alleged conduct.

False reports and misuse

Good-faith reports are welcome, even if an investigation ultimately cannot establish a violation.

However, deliberately fabricated reports, knowingly false accusations, malicious reporting intended to get another student banned, and repeated abusive use of the reporting system may themselves result in enforcement action.

We will not treat a report as malicious simply because it is unsubstantiated.

12. Serious Threats and Immediate Safety Risks

Certain behaviour requires urgent attention.

This includes credible threats of violence, stalking, blackmail, sexual exploitation, threats to expose someone's identity, or other conduct that creates a serious risk of harm.

Where appropriate, Matila may:

Where legally required, we will provide information to the relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law.

Matila may take urgent protective action before an investigation is complete when necessary to reduce an immediate safety risk. Temporary action does not automatically mean that an allegation has been conclusively established.

If you believe you or another person is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency services.

13. How Enforcement Works

Violations are assessed according to their seriousness, the available evidence, the potential harm, previous conduct and any relevant circumstances.

Our general enforcement approach is:

1. Warning

For certain minor, first-time violations, Matila may issue a warning and explain the behaviour that must stop.

2. Temporary restrictions or suspension

Repeated violations, more serious misconduct or behaviour requiring further investigation may result in temporary restrictions or suspension.

3. Immediate protective suspension

Credible allegations involving serious threats, stalking, blackmail, sexual exploitation or other significant safety risks may result in immediate temporary suspension while we investigate.

4. Permanent ban

Severe misconduct, confirmed impersonation, serious threats, stalking, sexual exploitation, repeated harassment, ban evasion or repeated serious violations may result in permanent account termination.

5. Legal escalation

Where warranted or legally required, Matila may preserve relevant information and cooperate with appropriate authorities.

This is a general framework, not a guarantee that every violation will receive a warning first. Matila may impose stronger action immediately when the seriousness of the conduct, safety considerations or applicable law justify it.

We may also remove access to specific features or take other proportionate steps to protect users and maintain the integrity of the service.

14. Appeals

If you believe your account was restricted or banned unfairly, you may appeal by contacting:

support@matila.in

Please include the email address associated with your Matila account, the action you are appealing and a clear explanation of why you believe the decision should be reviewed.

We will review appeals in good faith, taking into account the available information and the circumstances of the case.

We may maintain temporary restrictions while a safety investigation or appeal is ongoing. We may also decline to disclose the identity of a reporting user or confidential details that could compromise another person's safety, privacy or an investigation.

Submitting an appeal does not guarantee that a decision will be reversed.

15. Ban Evasion

If your account is permanently banned, you must not create another account or use someone else's account to regain access.

Using a different college email, student ID or other identity information to evade a ban is a violation of these Guidelines.

Matila may suspend or permanently ban replacement accounts associated with ban evasion and take other appropriate measures permitted by law.

16. Respect the Payment Process

Matila's paid features require users to follow the applicable in-app payment and confirmation process.

You must not:

Where only one user completes payment for a mutually selected paid action, Matila's applicable payment rules govern how that payment is handled, including any conversion into coins.

Purchase, coin and refund conditions are explained separately in the app and applicable store terms. Nothing in these Community Guidelines removes rights that cannot legally be excluded.

17. What Matila Can and Cannot Guarantee

Matila provides a platform for introductions and conversations. We cannot guarantee that every match will be compatible, that every user will tell the truth about themselves, or that another person will behave appropriately outside the app.

An identity reveal confirms only that the relevant in-app reveal conditions have been met. It is not a guarantee of another user's character, intentions, background or trustworthiness.

We encourage you to take your time, respect your instincts and avoid sharing information before you are comfortable.

These limitations do not remove Matila's responsibility to handle reports appropriately, apply its policies fairly and comply with applicable legal obligations.

18. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines as Matila's features, safety practices or legal obligations evolve.

Where appropriate, we will notify users of material changes through an in-app notice or another suitable communication method.

The updated version will be made available through Matila's website or application. Continued use of Matila after an update is subject to the applicable Guidelines and law.
