Say that you want your Matila account deleted, and include enough information for us to identify your request. Do not send passwords, payment-card details or unnecessary sensitive information.
We confirm that we received it.
We aim to acknowledge or confirm receipt within seven business days.
We delete your account information.
We process your request and delete the information linked to your account as described below, in line with our privacy policy and applicable law.
Before you delete
- Deleting your account removes access to it and to the benefits linked to it.
- Unused coins are not returned when an account is deleted or banned. Refund rights that the law or app-store rules give you are not affected.
- Deleting your Matila account does not cancel any separate payment arrangement managed by Google Play or Apple. Manage any recurring billing with them directly.
How we reply
We aim to acknowledge or confirm receipt of a deletion request within seven business days.
That is a target for confirming that we received your request. It is not a promise that all of your data will be deleted within seven business days.
If your account is subject to an active report or safety investigation, we may keep some information for a limited time. See what we may keep, below.
What gets deleted
When an account is deleted, we intend to delete personal information associated with the account, including, as applicable:
- Account and profile information.
- College email and student-verification information.
- Verification selfies and profile photographs stored in Firebase Storage.
- Chat messages and associated conversation records.
- Matching preferences and matching history.
- Identity-reveal and conversation-decision records.
- Push notification tokens and account-linked technical information.
- Coin balances and other account-linked feature information.
Some technical records, transaction records or other information may need to be retained for a limited period where required by law or reasonably necessary for a permitted purpose, as explained below.
What we may keep, and for how long
Accounts with an active report or investigation
- What
- If your account is subject to an active report, safety investigation or misconduct complaint when you ask for deletion, we may keep the information reasonably needed to investigate and resolve it.
- How long
- Our current intended retention period is up to 60 days after the deletion request. If a serious investigation is still unresolved after that, we keep only what is reasonably necessary to comply with a lawful request, legal hold or other legal obligation, limited to what the law permits. We do not use this as a reason to keep all deleted account information indefinitely.
Transaction, security and legal records
- What
- Some records may need to be kept to meet legal requirements, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
- How long
- For the period the law requires, or that is needed for those purposes. Where possible, we restrict these records from ordinary use.
Backups and technical logs
- What
- Copies in backups or technical logs may not be removed at the exact moment your account records are deleted.
- How long
- They are protected, then deleted or overwritten under the applicable retention process, subject to legal requirements. We do not keep information longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes in our privacy policy, unless the law permits or requires it.
Your other rights
You can also write to support@matila.in to ask about the information linked to your account, to ask for it to be corrected, to withdraw consent where we rely on it, or to make a privacy complaint.
